i was searching etsy for wool or felted balls for my throwing-a-lot toddler and discovered ouistitine - super cute montreal shop upcycling sweaters into great toys.

images from ketiketa's winter 2011 collection. nepalese textiles, small-scale production, lookbook in the midst of a french art installation.

found some terrific handmade, fair trade children's items at my new favorite online store, deep dark africa. finely woven storage baskets and sisal cups and crocheted pendant lights (trust me).
what a great tapestry above this little one's crib! vintage egyptian tapestry found at the rose bowl. from apartment therapy's tour of jesse kamm + family's home.

vintage alphabet cards from the '60s. i've ordered a couple vintage items from cottage farm that i've been really happy about.

pieces from tane organics fall/winter 2011 collection - inspired by sources ranging from japanese kimonos to renaissance frescoes, all in natural fibers. la's lost & found has the best things for little ones.
sweetness! h-luv fabrications - handmade by californian and self-described postmodern folk artist heidi iverson. made from durable linens, felts and upcycled/repurposed fabrics.
i stumbled on these crayon rolls trolling etsy. terrific little gifts and great for travel. we keep this one on hand for dinners out. all proceeds go to charity, and the felt lining is made from recycled plastic bottles.

for the last days of summer....every piece of the mabo collection is gorgeous. i want my little girl to wear this gingham kerchief! just the lookbook photos alone are inspiring.
this family's home was featured recently in dwell, which noted the parents' handmade ceramics. i tracked down their etsy shop, new house project, and think the primary colors in the wheel-thrown pottery sets are great, really fresh but still designed for kids. and i love the bathroom cups too.

when i heard these muny quilts were on sale, i treated my daughter to the owl print as a special gift for her new big girl bed...it is so soft and beautifully made without being too precious. when we opened the box last week, she insisted on getting right into bed with it!
